Lesson 4 My Roles in Society 본문 We Are All Leaders Brian: The election is coming up. Why don't you run/ to run for class represent/representative, Yumi? Yumi: No way. I'm not the right person for that position. I've thought/never thought about running. Brian: Why not? Yumi: Come on, Brian. Leaders has/have special qualities/quantities. I don't think a person like me can call/be called a leader. Brian: What do you mean? I think you have very good leadership qualities/quantities. You're really friendly and ingoing/outgoing. You also help people get around/along. I have no doubt what/that you will elect/be elected if you run. Brian told me this afternoon what/that I have good leadership qualities/quantities. No one has ever told me that before. Why does he think so? Maybe he was just trying to be nice. When he said that to me, however/therefore, I started to think. Can I really become a leader? I don't know. I think leaders should have a vision, clear/vague goals, and the ability motivating/ to motivate others. I don't have any/some of those things. Then I suddenly started wondering/to wonder if these are the only qualities/quantities. that make/makes a good leader. Maybe I'm right/wrong. Maybe there are other leadership qualities/quantities. So I decided doing/to do some research online. Here's what I found! GREEN LEADERS “Team Builders” • Ensure what/that the team feels valuing/valued • Create a positive/negative environment • Are friendly and easy/hard to talk to RED LEADERS “Logical Analysts” • Have good reasoning skills • Analyze problems and situations • Think of the most effective ways achieving/to achieve the team’s goals PURPLE LEADERS “Hands-Off Managers” • Allow others work/to work on their own • Do not try to control people • Give advice only when it is needed ORANGE LEADERS “Strict Directors” • Make everyone’s role clear • Make sure everything finishes/is finished on time • Ensure each step is/are done properly YELLOW LEADERS “Quiet Supporters” • Lead by/in example • Let the team members shine/shining instead/though • Meet the team members’ needs BLUE LEADERS “Creative Thinkers” • Approach problems in new ways • Come up/over with fresh ideas • Deal with tasks different/differently from/as others I was surprised that/what there are actually many different leadership styles, so/but soon I realized the reason. We belong over/to many same/different groups, and many different situations can come up/as in our lives. They all call for/up different/same leadership styles. Each group's unique situation determine/determines the best/worst leadership style. “I am a part of many same/different groups, and I have same/different responsibilities in each group.” After/Before reading everything, I became more confident/confidently. I discovered that I have some of the qualities/quantities. of a “green leader.” If my classmates think/thinks a green leader would make our class worse/better, they might pick me to be class representative! Okay, let's try it! |
